With 3.63 lakh passenger vehicles sold in September, India saw a record number of passenger vehicle sales in a month. But, what’s unfortunate is that India still sees a record number of road fatalities annually. Government interventions like regulations and other initiatives, and advanced technologies have a big role to play now as both vehicle power and speed, thanks also to better road infrastructure, are on the rise.

The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) that’s set to kick off this month is one Government initiative that’s expected to contribute towards safer mobility in India. It’s also expected to fuel a higher adoption rate for safety technologies. But how much of an impact can NCAP make? What are OEMs and Tier1s doing to make India-made vehicles safer? And equally importantly, what’s the Government doing to make Indian roads safer, and also achieve the target of halving the number of road fatalities in the country?

The ETAuto Virtual Conference on Automotive Safety will see Government and industry representatives providing answers to the questions above, and also sharing their views on new safety technology trends/roadmap, and plans to make mobility safer in India.

Key Discussion Points:

  • Key aspects of AIS 197
  • How to engineer safer yet affordable vehicles
  • NCAP and its influence on safety standards
  • Bharat NCAP – will it also contribute to vehicles becoming more expensive?
  • New regulations in global and India markets
  • Upcoming advanced technologies to ensure safer mobility
  • ADAS and its scope of contribution to safer mobility
  • How to secure a 5-star rating in an NCAP test
  • Crash test protocols for electric vehicles
