Last time we shut the workshop door on a classic Golf that was pretty much in bits. Clive was deep into the bodywork issues that plague most cars of that age and I had been working on the oily stuff. The car I had dragged screaming into our 'shed of repair' was a bit worse for wear and slightly more challenged in most departments than we had anticipated but we were happy that we had the technology, skills and blind optimism to bring it back to life.
